Below are posted various unknown scopes. If you can identify any of them please send an email to admin@shootingglass.com












AK47/AKM

IDF soldier with captured Type 3 AK47. Has a Galil style M203 launcher attached. Photo probably dates from early 80s. Scope unknown.


Pro Russian soldier in Ukraine 2014, probably a commerical scope.



Photo was captioned as being from the First Chechen War in Ingushetia, 1994.



Red dot in Cuban service. Possibly of domestic production. See the bottom of the VILMA OED page for more photos.


AK74M

Russian soldier during the take over of Crimea in 2014. Unknown commercial scope.


AMD65

Appears to be a grenade launcher with sight. Possible protoype for AMP69 rifles.


AN94

Scope mounted to what appears to be an early wood stocked AN94.


BM59

Italian soldier with scoped BM59. Probably a commercial M1 Garand scope mount. Scope unknown but probably commerical also. See more speculation here and here


CETME C

Spanish Marines with a CETME C. Scope unknown. Oddly looks to have bands helping keep it in place.

Possibly related to the above photos. Unknown Spanish ENOSA marked scope with a German army acceptance sticker.


FAMAS

French Legionare in Djibouti. Probably a commerical scope.


French soldier in Sarajevo, August 24 1994.


Photo is supposedly of French soldier in Rwanda 1994.

FN FAL/L1A1

South Africa soldiers. Scope is probably commerical, mounted in a FN dust cover scope mount.



British soldiers with scoped L1A1 rifles in North Ireland.



Argentine troops with scoped FALs, first three are marines possible with NEDINSCO 4x scopes, the last photo shows commandos from company 601.


HK G3

Right photo is an Italian detachment of naval speacial forces (G.I.Com.Sub.In.), early 90s. Left photo is Italian troops, probably in Somalia early 90s. Both shows what appears to be a scoped G3. Possibly a G3SG/1, with a Zeiss Diavari DA 1.5-6x36 scope. Note in the right photo the soldier on the right has SCS70/90 the carbine version of the AR70/90.


Scope is a PU variant with an unknown mount. Russian is Снайпер США неуязвимость or US sniper invulnerability. If anybody can find the original video and information on the mount, let me know.


Isralie FN Mauser 98 Sniper

IDF FN produced 7.62x51 mauser 98 sniper rifle. Scope unknown.


M14

Red dot is similar in configuration to the Aimpoint 2000/3000, early Tasco Propoint, (InterAims) Action Arms Mark V/Pro45, Adco Mirage.


M16

First two photos are Marines during LantCoopEx 89, the second two are from Panama in 1989.



Marine from Task Force Tawara, scope looks similar to a Fero Z24, but appears to lack the wider rear tube body. Possibly a similar STANAG scope by swarovski?


M4

M41 Johnson

Cuban M-26-7 guerrilla with a scoped Johnson, 1959.



Soldiers from the CIA trained Brigade 2506 during training (march 1961) in the leadup to the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. Scopes are possibly Bushnell 6x Scopemaster. Gettyimages Gettyimages


MP5

ATF with MP5 at Waco siege.


SAR80

Croatian Soldiers with SAR80 rifles. Probably a commerial scope. The file name of the last photo found on pintrest included Osijek 1991 with no other information or working links.


SKS

Beslan September 2004. Described variable as Ossetian soldiers, militia, or citizens. The SKS in the first photo is a ТОЗ-97, a factory refurbished and sporterized SKS. GettyImages GettyImages


SPAS12

French GIGN with SPAS12, probably early 90s. Probably an early laser sight... Would make more sense when wearing a gasmask.


Type 85

Type 85 with Chinese personal, appears to be showing testing or a demonstration.


Type 85 with Cambodian military/police, probably using commerical scopes.
